Three Elements That Would Dictate Your Experience at Indus OS
1. Work Flexibility
The post-pandemic world values work flexibility more than ever. According to a survey conducted by the Harvard Business Review, 88% of respondents said they look for an employer that can provide high work flexibility.
What is Work Flexibility?
According to a report conducted by ManpowerGroup Solutions, workplace flexibility includes a broad spectrum of arrangements like control over when breaks are taken, full work-from-home programs, and caregiver’s leave.
The report admits that not all companies can accommodate all these options, yet it is considered as one of the biggest deciding factors for a candidate. In India, 30% of respondents said that schedule flexibility is one of the top 3 motivators in making career decisions.
In addition to it being a motivator, employees also say that work flexibility increases their productivity. Looking at the results of a survey conducted by Workfest, 78% of respondents said that work flexibility makes them more productive. A whopping 73% said that they are more satisfied with work when they have flexible work arrangements.
Lastly, another major component of work flexibility is unlimited paid time off (PTO). To quote from an article published in Business News Daily, “unlimited PTO provides an employee peace of mind that they can take a sick day”. Plus, an unlimited PTO policy marks a business as modern and employee-first.
How Flexibility Works at Indus OS
We’ve been singing the tune of work flexibility at Indus OS for many a year now. It’s one of the core policies of the organisation.
To quote Indus OS’s lead engineer Aman Aggarwal, “Indus OS has given me the opportunity to use my extensive experience as a lead engineer to maintain and streamline our projects. The people, work culture and environment is surely what makes work fun at Indus OS”.
None who work at Indus OS are bound by the traditional 9-5 clock. Your arrival and departure times are decided solely by you. Thus, you get work done by working around a schedule that suits your circumstances. Your need to work at a time that is suitable for you cannot be overstated. Moreover, you needn’t worry about maintaining a healthy work-life balance.
With respect to leaves, we practice something called an “Open Leave Policy” which means we do not account for leave, nor do we count weekends as leave availed.
Work culture is commonly cited as the top quality that an employee looks for. Not only is it paramount to have trust between leaders, managers, and colleagues but employees look to be respected, challenged, and appreciated.
But what is work culture? According to a Mckinsey & Company publication, “culture is the common set of behaviors and underlying mindsets and beliefs that shape how people work and interact day to day”.
In other words, it includes everything from manager-employee relations, to ethics and communications styles.
A healthy work culture is proven to improve productivity and employee engagement. On the flip side, an unhealthy culture leads to employee disengagement, health issues, etc. A study reported by the Harvard Business Review showed that disengaged employees had a 37% higher level of absenteeism, and 60% more errors. Companies with low employee engagement reported 18% lower productivity and 16% lower profitability.

Indus OS espouses a culture that values openness, healthy communication, and mutual help.
One of the fundamental tenets of work culture at Indus OS is freedom. This freedom affords employees to take responsibility for their projects and tasks that results in a thriving workplace. You are given the freedom to figure out the way you work, and yet you’ll be guided if you find it hard to do so.
Lastly, the need for belonging is an in-built desire for all humans, and Indus OS works towards fostering that kind of community amongst its workforce.
Engagement in work is associated with feelings of being valued, supported, secure, and respected. Employee disengagement occurs when any of these elements decline in a workplace.
One of the ways disengagement occurs is when an employee feels stagnant in their career, or when it seems like there is no room for growth. According to a report by LinkedIn, 87% of millennials believe that growth and development are important in a job. And 94% of employees said that they would stay at a job longer if they could invest in their growth at the organisation.
In an article published on Forbes, the need for growth and development is not an optional perk but employees expect it. Moreover, the need for progress and growth is one of them is also an in-built human desire.
