Flipkart and PhonePe now established as separate entities
Flipkart and PhonePe announced full ownership separation of PhonePe, earlier this week. The digital payments platform was acquired by Flipkart in 2016. Establishing these two companies as separate entities will create new opportunities for investors to help unlock and maximize enterprise value. As a part of this transaction, existing Flipkart Singapore and PhonePe Singapore shareholders have purchased shares directly in PhonePe India. This also makes PhonePe a fully India-domiciled company.
Microsoft beta-tests Android 13 on Windows 11
After the release of Windows Subsystem for Android (WSA) in mid-2022, users could run Android apps on their PCs without the requirement of specialized software. However, the Android 12-based system was only available in the markets like Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and the United States. The beta tests of running Android 13 on the WSA show technological advancements like 50% faster boot time, improvements to mouse click input, and better clipboard stability, among others.

TikTok takes several measures to settle a security deal with the US government
In order to settle the TikTok-US government feud, the short-video platform has taken several measures aimed at appeasing the US government. The company has offered to partner with Oracle to store the users’ data, and review server codes and the look and feel of the app. This is to ensure the data remains secure in the US territory and the content is compliant with the US security policies. TikTok has also proposed to form a “proxy” board at the United States Data Security (USDS) division to oversee data protection and content moderation decisions.
Amazon Prime Gaming launched in India
Amazon has launched Prime Gaming for PC users in India. The users can avail the service through Amazon Prime’s dedicated microsite, Prime Gaming. It is an additional benefit that Prime members can get without paying anything extra. Prime Gaming offers a list of games every month. Games included in the list for December 2022 are Banners of Ruin, Desert Child, Doors: Paradox, Rose Riddle 2: Werewolf Shadow, Quake, Spinch, and The Amazing American Circus.
Tumblr rolls out new live streaming feature
Tumblr launched a live-streaming feature for its US users last week. Users can live-stream via the platform, Livebox. It provides AI and Human-powered moderation of streams and also lets streamers designate trusted viewers as moderators. It helps in maintaining the quality of content streaming on the platform. A worldwide release of the future is in planning, however, the timeline is unknown.
